Non Destructive Testing of concrete structures is an economical method of finding the in-site strength or quality of the concrete structures using methods which do not damage or alter the structure.

Rebound Hammer Test:

“This test method is applicable to assess the in-place uniformity of concrete, to delineate variations in concrete quality throughout a structure, and to estimate in-place strength if a correlation is developed in…” ASTM C805

Rebound Hammer Test is a rapid non destructive test for evaluation of the compressive strength of concrete. The Indian Standard for evaluating the strength of concrete by rebound hammer test is IS 516 (Part 5/Sec 4) or ASTM C805. DVG Laboratories is equipped with Original Schmidt OS8200 which the the most advanced Q Value rebound hammer.

Ultra Sonic Pulse Velocity Test :

“This test method is applicable to assess the uniformity and relative quality of concrete, to indicate the presence of voids and cracks, and to evaluate the effectiveness of crack repairs. It is also applicable to indicate changes in the properties of concrete, and in the survey of structures, to estimate the severity of deterioration or cracking….” ASTM C 597

UPV Test is performed for the evaluation of the quality of concreting done to check for honey combs, defects or depths of cracks in the concrete structure.
The Indian Standard for evaluating the strength of concrete by UPV Test is IS 516 (Part 5/Sec 1) or ASTM C 597.

Pile Integrity Testing :

“Low strain impact integrity testing provides acceleration or velocity and force (optional) data on slender structural elements (that is, structural columns, driven concrete piles, cast in place concrete piles, concrete filled steel pipe piles, timber piles, etc.). The method works best on solid concrete sections, and has limited application to unfilled steel pipe piles, H piles, or steel sheet piles…” ASTM D5882.

PIT Test is performed for inspection and evaluation of the driven or cast in place piles to evaluate the length and identification of necking and bulging of piles which may effect the load bearing capacity of the member. The Indian standard for Low strain impact integrity is IS 14893.
